"The World Happened To Me", Davido Apologizes To Fans Over Missed Concert

Grammy-nominated singer Davido has apologised to fans after failing to appear at a scheduled performance in Lagos, blaming the development on difficulties in sourcing aviation fuel.

The artiste, whose real name is David Adeleke, was billed to headline a performance alongside Zlatan Ibile at a popular club, Secret Place, in Ikate Elegushi on Sunday as part of its fifth anniversary celebration.

However, Davido did not show up, prompting reactions from fans who had gathered for the event.

In a post shared afterwards on his Instagram story on Monday, the singer explained that logistical challenges linked to fuel shortages disrupted his travel plans, forcing a reschedule.

“The world happened to me yesterday. These wars around the world have really started penetrating. Finding fuel was a problem yesterday to even fly. Everything had to be rescheduled,” he said.

He apologised to fans who turned up for the show, assuring them that he would make it up to them.

“To my fans that pulled up… sorry I missed it. We’re going to run it back again soon,” he added.

The development comes amid wider global concerns over fuel supply disruptions, particularly affecting the aviation sector, with rising costs and shortages impacting flight schedules in several regions.

Davido also congratulated the organisers of the event, reiterating his support while promising a future appearance.

Despite Age, Mama G's Relevance In Nollywood Remains Unwavering

Veteran actress, Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, remains one of the few entertainers who have built a lasting brand while staying grounded and consistent through the years.

Famous for her unforgettable portrayals of domineering mothers and strong-willed characters in Nollywood classics of the 90s, the screen icon has continued to prove that relevance is sustained through talent, discipline and reinvention. From acting to music, she has shown that entertainment thrives when one keeps evolving.

Though regarded as one of the pioneers of Nollywood, Ozokwor has shown no signs of slowing down. Even as she advances in age, she continues to make meaningful contributions to the movie industry. This year alone, she has featured in several productions, reaffirming her status as a dependable force on screen. It was, therefore, no surprise when she was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

Beyond her achievements, the actress continues to show that true legacy does not require noise. Unlike many who thrive on controversy or the constant need for online attention, she has chosen dignity over drama. Her relevance is not driven by trends, but by the respect she has earned across generations of viewers.

Another admirable side of the actress is her warm relationship with her children and grandchildren. In a recent video that surfaced online, Ozokwor joined her granddaughter in a playful trend, drawing praise from fans who admired her youthful spirit and family bond.

She has also continued to embody humility and respect. Recently, she was seen bowing respectfully to greet fellow Nollywood legend, Pete Edochie, despite her own legendary status.

Funke Akindele Condemns Airpeace's London Airport Flight Delay

Filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele has criticised Air Peace for its handling of a flight delay that left passengers stranded for hours at London’s Gatwick Airport on Friday.

Akindele, who was among those affected, said the disruption began around 6:30 am.

Passengers were initially told a bird strike had grounded the aircraft, an incident requiring safety inspections before departure.

Hours later, Akindele said travelers remained at the airport without access to checked luggage or clear updates on accommodation.

“Passengers (including elderly people) have been stranded since 6:30AM at London Gatwick Airport with no proper communication. After hours of delay, we were told there was a bird strike and promised a hotel. Hours later, people are still sitting at baggage claim hungry, exhausted, and without their bags,” she wrote.

Akindele posted on X that passengers, including elderly travelers, were waiting at baggage claim hungry and exhausted after being promised hotel arrangements that had not materialised.

She described elderly passengers struggling and families growing tired amid the uncertainty, adding that many travelers sat on the floor due to exhaustion and lacked access to essential items in their bags.

“Elderly passengers are struggling. Families are tired. No clear updates. No support,” she said, urging the airline to act swiftly.

She called on the airline to release luggage immediately and provide the promised hotel support.

“Release passengers’ luggage immediately and provide the hotel you promised. Do something NOW,” she added.

Akindele said passengers had gone hours without food or adequate communication despite assurances from staff.

She accused the airline of failing to provide basic care during the disruption.

“We have been here for hours without food or proper communication,” she said. “They promised a hotel, but nothing has happened.”

Air Peace responded directly to Akindele on X, expressing regret for the inconvenience and stating that safety and operational efficiency remain priorities.

The airline said delays can occur due to factors beyond its control and that its team was working to assist affected passengers.

“Dear Funke @funkeakindele we sincerely empathize with you over this experience and all inconveniences this has caused to your travel plans.

“Such actions are never intentional as we prioritize safety and operational efficiency, and while we strive for on-time departures, certain factors beyond our control can sometimes cause delays”, it wrote.

The airline added that efforts were underway to assist affected passengers.

Why Kissing On Screen Is Weird And Uncomfortable - Nollywood Actor, Saga Adeoluwa

Actor Saga Adeoluwa has expressed his dislike for kissing scenes in movies, stating that he would avoid them if he had the choice.

In an episode of the Nolly Icons podcast, the reality star-turned-actor revealed that contrary to public perception, most actors do not enjoy onscreen kisses and only engage in them for proper script interpretation.

Adeoluwa disclosed that he has never had a pleasant onscreen kiss experience despite featuring in several romantic films.

He described the act as weird and uncomfortable, particularly due to the exchange of saliva.

He noted that actors are often misunderstood, as many people assume they derive pleasure from such scenes.

According to him, kissing in movies is simply part of storytelling and not something performers enjoy.

He admitted to once kissing four different actresses in a single day on set.

Adeoluwa further stated that actors who perform kissing scenes deserve commendation rather than judgment.

“It is not easy to kiss another actor. It is weird. I have not really had any good onscreen kiss. It is weird having people invade your mouth with saliva.

“It is not something we enjoy. People think we enjoy it, but we don’t. We are just doing it for the story most times. If I had my way, I won’t kiss anyone in a film… There was a day I kissed four different girls on set. I don’t blame anybody for judging us but they should applaud us instead,” he said.

Talent Is Not Enough To Succeed In The Music Industry - Tiwa Savage

Afrobeats superstar, Tiwa Savage has said that talent is insufficient to succeed in the music industry.

The 46-year-old singer made the remarks while outlining the vision behind her initiative, the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, which aims to support emerging African creatives.

“Music changed my life but talent alone isn’t enough especially when access is limited,” Savage said.

Continuing, the 46-year-old entertainer said, “I want to open people’s eyes to the full scope of what’s possible in music.”

On April 26, Savage hosted a grand finale concert for over 100 participants who graduated from her music foundation in partnership with Berklee College of Music.

The event took place at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts with Nigerian entertainer Darey Art Alade and Kie Kie serving as hosts.

Savage stressed that her ambition extends beyond nurturing artistes but to develop industry gurus.

“I don’t just want to launch artists; I want to build leaders, producers, executives and owners who will shape the future of the music industry,” she said.

“Our alumni will become film composers, label executives and mentors who reinvest in the next generation. If a young musician from a small neighbourhood can say the foundation changed their life, then we’ve achieved something meaningful,” Savage said.

I Am Between Married And Single - Jim Iyke

Seasoned actor Jim Iyke has described his relationship status as ‘between married and single’ while also affirming internal sabotage as the major challenge facing the Nigerian movie industry.

In an interview with the BBC pidgin, Iyke said the industry is full of saboteurs who cannot help themselves and need therapy.

He said if he could change one thing about Nollywood, it would be to purge saboteurs from the industry.

“If there is one thing I would love to change about Nollywood, it would be to purge saboteurs from the industry. The industry is full of saboteurs. They can’t help themselves. They need therapy,” he said.

The actor said his proudest moment came when his son commended his performance and called him a genius.

He said the comment made him emotional, so he went into the bathroom to cry.

“I showed my son something I was working on, and he looked at me for a second and said, ‘Papa, you are a genius.’ I went to the bathroom, and had a quiet cry”, he said.

Jim Iyke named Kate Henshaw as the actress he enjoys working with the most.

On his relationship status, Jim Iyke told the BBC  that he is "between married and single". He was previously with Dana Kinduryte, with whom he has a son, Harvis Chidubem Ike (born in 2015). The marriage ended after he became deeply affected by the death of his mother, noting he was an "excellent father and a woeful husband" during that period.

Reports indicate that the couple broke up in good terms.

Funke Akindele Denies Ignoring Pasuma During Fathia Balogun's Birthday Party

Actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has dismissed claims that she ignored Fuji musician Wasiu Pasuma at a public event, describing a viral video circulating online as misleading.

The controversy arose after a social media user shared an edited clip alleging that Akindele failed to acknowledge Pasuma during actress Fathia Balogun’s birthday celebration.

The footage showed Akindele greeting Balogun while Pasuma was seated nearby.

Responding on X on Sunday, Akindele said she interacted with Pasuma at the event, noting that she greeted and danced with him.

“Snub? Hell no. Stop the negativity pls. I saw him, greeted him, and danced with him. Pasuma is my egbon. Pls you all should stop this,” she wrote.

A longer video from the occasion appears to counter the claim, showing Akindele standing close to Pasuma, engaging with him before moving on to other guests.

The clarification comes weeks after discussions following an incident at the premiere of The Return of Arinzo, where Akindele was alleged to have ignored fellow actress Toyin Abraham.

Blood Is Not Thicker Than My Peace - Peter Okoye

Singer Peter Okoye dismissed claims that women caused the renewed dispute within the Okoye family, linking the rift to long-standing disagreements over loyalty, trust, and the management of their music business.

In a series of posts on X, the former P-Square member said the issues began more than 20 years ago and predate the family’s marriages.

“Before you drag any woman into this! No woman directed or advised anyone to steal from what I worked for over the years. Stop pushing that narrative to suit your agenda. None of us were even married 20-something years ago when this whole betrayal and stealing started! I said what I said.”

He rejected public narratives tying women to the breakdown. Okoye said he set boundaries to protect his well-being and mental health.

“Even if my parents were alive and supported this kind of betrayal, I’d still choose to step back, cut them off, and protect my peace. Boundaries are necessary! Blood isn’t thicker than my peace of mind.”

He confirmed the dispute remains unresolved and is before the court.

“Now that I’ve uncovered the betrayal that has been going on for over 20 years plus, suddenly we’re blood? No… it doesn’t work like that. We are still in court,” he said.

P-Square, comprising Peter and Paul Okoye, first split in 2017 after disagreements over management control, finances, and creative direction.

The duo reunited in 2021, but tensions resurfaced over financial transparency and control of their music catalogue.

The dispute involves the brothers and their elder brother, Jude Okoye. Jude faces prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over alleged money laundering and diversion of royalties, which he denies.

The case is before the Lagos State High Court and has been adjourned to May 15, 2026.

Recent court proceedings include Peter Okoye’s disclosure that he is a co-signatory to the Northside Entertainment Limited account.

Okoye said the situation has been painful, but boundaries became necessary.

“Yes, it’s painful. And yes, it’s my loss. But no one should keep reminding me that I was betrayed and used by my own blood for over 20 years plus,” he added.

Love Has Always Been Transactional - Omawumi

Singer Omawumi has pushed back against claims that modern relationships are more transactional than past ones, arguing that the nature of exchange has simply shifted over time.

Speaking on a Pulse podcast, the singer said women have always expected gestures from partners, but the form of those gestures has changed.

She contrasted secondary school and university-era courtship, marked by simple acts like buying ice cream and popcorn, with present-day expectations such as iPhones.

Omawumi noted that the term “transactional” is often misunderstood.

“I disagree because we women have had long throat since the beginning of time, you know, but our transactional was different because if it was all those like secondary school to university days of holding hands or crushing on a girl or a boy, you know, you just stay there, buy them ice cream and popcorn. But now, it’s an iPhone”, she said.

She said some form of exchange has always existed in relationships and described mutual effort as a normal component of dating.

She added that when a partner gives her gifts, she makes a conscious effort to match that energy.

“Some sort of transaction has always existed. Therefore, the word “transactional” has a lot of power when used. If I’m dating a man who gives me presents, I always strive to equal that energy,” she added.

The singer also addressed public perception of women in relationships, stating that women are frequently viewed as only receiving while their contributions go unnoticed.

She said some men pursue what she called “shiny objects,” and often go overboard in the process.

“However, the majority of people don’t think that women have the same level of energy. They just see the women collecting. So men, they go overboard sometimes, just especially because some men tend to like shiny objects. And shiny objects, not the only person they like. So everybody is struggling to get that shiny object.”

Omawumi concluded by identifying consistency as a major problem in modern relationships.

She said effort tends to fade once initial attraction is secured, stressing that partners should maintain the same energy they showed at the start.

“And once you’ve finished obtaining it, you’ll need to cut back on all the paparazzi you were doing earlier. No, no. You must maintain your energy”.

Comedian Okey Bakassi Places N5 Million Reward For The Recovery Of Phones Stolen At Ikoyi

Nigerian comedian Okey Bakassi has announced a N5 million reward for information that could lead to the recovery of eight mobile phones stolen during a private football game in Ikoyi.

In a video posted on Instagram on Thursday, Bakassi disclosed that the incident occurred during the group’s regular Wednesday evening session on April 15, 2026.

He explained that an unidentified individual joined the game and was permitted to participate out of goodwill.

According to him, the suspect played briefly before claiming to be injured and moving to the sidelines. While the match continued, the individual allegedly seized the opportunity to steal eight phones belonging to players and fled the venue.

Bakassi stated that the stolen devices belong to businessmen whose daily operations depend heavily on their phones, heightening the urgency of recovery.

He cautioned potential buyers to be wary, noting that the suspect might attempt to dispose of the devices quickly at discounted prices.

The comedian added that the police have been informed and are making efforts to track down the suspect, although he declined to disclose specific operational details.

He also issued a 24-hour ultimatum for the return of the stolen phones to the security post at the venue, warning that failure to comply would result in intensified efforts to apprehend the suspect.

“If you’re the one who came out this evening to play with us and you feel that the way to pay us back is to cart away phones and vanish, we will find you. It will only take time. In your best interest, you have the next 24 hours to return those phones back to the security post where you took them from,” he said.

The comedian appealed to the public for assistance, promising N5 million to anyone who can trace any of the stolen devices.

“For everyone else who knows how to track phones, contact me in my DM. There’s a five million naira waiting for whoever can track any one of those phones,” he added.

He advised second-hand phone buyers to verify sellers’ identification to avoid purchasing stolen items.

Men Should Dump Marriages Where They Are Not Respected - Yul Edochie

Actor Yul Edochie has advised men to walk away from marriages or relationships where they are not respected.

In a post made on X, Edochie stated that respect for men in marriage is non-negotiable and should not be compromised.

He discouraged men from tolerating what he described as ‘nonsense’ in the name of marriage or a relationship.

The actor said men facing disrespect from their wives or girlfriends should end the relationship immediately and find partners who treat them with respect.

“Men stop tolerating nonsense in the name of marriage or relationship. If your wife or girlfriend doesn’t respect you, dump her immediately and get someone who respects you”, he said.

Yul Edochie is in a public, contentious polygamous situation. He is actively living with his second wife, Judy Austin, with whom he has children, while his first wife, May Edochie, is separated from him and has filed for divorce, citing adultery and refusing to accept the polygamous marriage.

Yul and Judy frequently appear together in social media videos and have continued their relationship despite online rumors of, or public demand for, a breakup. Recent reports suggest they have multiple children together.

The situation remains highly volatile, with reports of ultimatums and public warnings between Yul and May.

The actor has faced extensive social media backlash for his public proclamations about his second wife and his advice regarding marriage, which many contrast with his split from May. It is believed in some quarters that his recent admonition for men to leave relationships where they are not respected, is an attempt to correct the narrative.

I Once Dated A Bus Driver - Otedola's Daughter, DJ Cuppy

Disc jockey Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has said she could date anyone, revealing that she once dated a bus driver. She however says she currently prefers dating working-class men who are not active on social media.

Speaking on The ZEZE Millz Show, the entertainer said she has dated men from different backgrounds but now favors partners with 9-to-5 jobs and a low public profile.

She added that she finds such men through dating applications.

She said, “I’ve dated all kinds of men—well, not every single kind, but a lot of different types. What I find is working for me right now is the 9-to-5, no social media, super-like-doesn’t-care type. I find them on apps”.

DJ Cuppy disclosed that she is subscribed to exclusive platforms including Raya and The League, stating that membership on The League costs £400.

“I’m on Raya, but I’m also on something called “The League” as well. But I love—thing is, I wanted to do like… oh no. “The League” is definitely £400 to join, I can’t lie. Yeah”, she added.

The 33-year-old, who is the daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, emphasised the importance of being open-minded when dating.

She noted that she has gone on dates with a bus driver, a man who lived with his mother, a model, and a footballer.

She described dating as an opportunity to converse and understand people.

She added, “You have to be open-minded! This is what I’m saying. Zeze, you have to be open-minded. I’ve dated a bus driver… well, okay, let me not say ‘dated,’ I’ve gone on a date with a bus driver. And there’s nothing wrong with that! No.”

“I’ve literally gone on a date with this annoying guy that lives with his mom, I’ve gone on a date with a model, I’ve been on a date with a footballer… so many! With dating, you have to be open-minded. I actually enjoy dating. I feel like we’re on a date; it’s talking and getting to know each other,” she concluded.

How God Delivered Me From Cult, Demons - Tonto Dikeh

Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh gave a raw and emotional testimony at the 2026 Women of Fire Prayer conference in Tanzania, revealing the depths of her former life and how her faith transformed her.

The 40-year-old recounted being fully immersed in a “wicked world,” where she joined cults and “operated and worked for demons so hard.”

Reflecting on her past, she said, “In the midst of trying to navigate life. I have put my hands in so much dirt, so many filthy things. I have joined cults, operated and worked for the demons so hard.”

Dikeh credited her radical turnaround entirely to God’s intervention. “He dragged me out of hell,” she declared.

“If you have ever doubted God, just look at me. He does not care about what you have been through or what you have done.”

She contrasted her past with her present, saying, “From a drug addict to an altar that praises God. From a devil worshipper to a woman who will pray to God with fire.”

The actress, who has been open about her deliverance from sexual immorality, anger, masturbation, and addiction, has also been active in Christian ministry, recently leading a viral deliverance session for a schoolgirl.

Why I Like BBL - Funke Akindele

Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has opened up on her views about Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedures during an appearance on The Morayo Show hosted by Morayo Afolabi-Brown

Speaking, Akindele said, “I must say, I love to see beautiful women with beautiful bodies. I actually like it. I am not talking about the excess ones but the normal ones. I want to do it but I don’t have the mind.”

While Akindele expressed admiration for the aesthetic appeal of BBL, she cautioned that anyone considering the surgery should weigh the risks carefully.

“I am not against it. If you want to enhance your beauty, go ahead, but be careful.”

Her comments came amid heightened attention on BBL surgeries which now remain one of the most talked-about cosmetic procedures today, especially in the entertainment and influencer space, where the pressure to achieve a certain body ideal often clashes with safety concerns and public health warnings.

The procedure, however, has sparked controversy following the death of a prominent social media influencer due to complications arising from a BBL surgery.

Recall that Elena Jessica Nkwopara, often known as Elena, was a Nigerian socialite and influencer who passed away after complications from a second Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure in Lagos.

After having problems with a first, recent BBL procedure, Nkwopara apparently had a second, “corrective” procedure in Lagos.

According to reports, she experienced serious difficulties either during or right after the treatment.

Kate Henshaw, Carol King storm The Stage For 'No More Shrinking' Play

Nollywood stars Kate Henshaw and Carol King were among the notable figures who turned out for a theatrical production entitled, ‘No More Shrinking: The Stage’ in Lagos.

Staged at Terra Kulture on March 28, the show delivered a compelling call for women to assert themselves in leadership and professional spaces.

Adapted from Dr. Abiola Salami’s best-selling book of the same title, the performance transforms his advocacy for women’s empowerment into a vibrant musical experience to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Speaking at the premiere, Salami described the project as more than a stage performance but movement to address gender inequality.

“It is about closing the gap that still exists for women in leadership and professional spaces,” he said, tracing its evolution from a podcast in 2025 to a book, and now a full stage experience.

Each phase, he explained, has been designed to deepen impact and create a more immersive, emotionally resonant journey rooted in women’s lived realities.

“Many women occupy influential positions yet still shrink from opportunities or hesitate to share bold ideas. It’s not that we lack competent women — the real gap is often confidence.”

He noted that the empowerment conversation itself is layered, pointing out that while some women battle under-confidence, others may overcompensate in ways that hinder progress.

Salami, who also contributed original music, describes the show as something audiences don’t just watch but feel.

“Invisibility is more dangerous than incompetence. Incompetence can be fixed with training, but when you are invisible, no one sees your value,” Salami cautioned.

Directed by Austin Onuoha, the play pushes the boundaries of adaptation, translating written narratives into emotionally charged stage moments.

“The stage gives the book a different life; you see emotions unfold before your eyes,” he noted.

Henshaw, expressing her excitement for the production, echoed its core message: “I’m not going to shrink for anybody.”

Omotola: Why I Was Banned From Nollywood

Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, has opened up on the circumstances that led to her alleged ban from the movie industry years ago, alongside some of her colleagues.

The actress said she, alongside Genevieve Nnaji, Ramsey Nouah, Jim Iyke, Stella Damasus, Richard Mofe-Damijo and Nkem Owoh, were sidelined by marketers

after pushing for improved standards in the industry.

Omotola made this known during a recent interview while promoting her new movie, ‘Mother’s Love’, noting that their stance for better structure and professionalism

was resisted at the time.

“They said we were too troublesome because we were trying to better the industry. They said we were bad influences because we were pushing for standards,” she said.

She added that although a reconciliation meeting was later convened, she chose not to attend.

“They called for a reconciliation meeting, and I refused to go,” she said.

Speaking further, the actress addressed her relationship with Genevieve, clarifying that while they are on good terms, they are not particularly close.

“People don’t need to be best friends, but we talk,” she said.

Despite Being Married, Admirers Still Send Me Gifts - Omotola

Award-winning actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde (aka Omosexy) has revealed that her admirers still send her gifts despite knowing she is married. The actress also commended the role of women in Nigeria’s film industry, stating that they dominate key segments and often run multiple businesses alongside their acting careers.

Speaking during an interview on Naija FM 102.7, Omotola underscored the pivotal role women have played in sustaining Nollywood, citing their entrepreneurial drive and capacity to balance diverse ventures.

“Women are the ones who hold this industry, right from the start. Women are the ones who do well for this industry. Women are mostly the producers. Women are the ones who hold Nollywood really,” she said.

The actress added that many female actors combine their film careers with enterprises such as modelling, brand influencing and retail businesses.

“I don’t know any female actor, even small ones who just entered this industry, that don’t get at least like three or four businesses. A lot of the females get businesses. They run different things. Most of them are influencers. They are doing acting, modelling, they have shops.

“You will hear say this one get boutique, that one gets this one, virtually everybody I know gets one or the other. Our job is very intense. You have to be on call. With acting, this is crazy to me. I think the balance must be there”, she said.

She compared the experiences of male and female actors, stating that while men receive admiration, the level of attention women get is more intense.

“Male actors too dey try, but I don’t think it’s as intense as the women,” she said. “Women get admirers. Men too get admirers wey dey help them, but women have more”, she added.

Omotola also shared her personal experience, revealing that she continues to receive gifts and assistance from admirers despite being married.

“Me, wey be married woman sef, I know how many people don dash me things. Asin women and men not be just men, women and men just see me, just say, ‘Oh, I’m sending you this, they don dash me car before sef”, she said.

However, she emphasised that her husband remains secure in their marriage, describing him as the most secure person she has ever met.

“My husband is the most secure. How you go marry Omosexy and you no go Dey secure. My husband is the most secure human being you will ever meet. The most secure, you know, no shaking,” she concluded.
