Having Kids With Different Women One Of My Biggest Mistakes — Ubi Franklin

Nigerian talent manager and music executive Ubi Franklin has described having children with different women as one of the biggest mistakes of his life, urging young people to learn from his experience.

Franklin made the remarks in a recent episode of his podcast, Talks with Ubi Franklin. A clip from the episode was shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday.

Reflecting on his personal life, the father of four said he loves his children deeply but wishes he had made different choices.

“One of the worst decisions you could ever make is to have kids with different women,” he said.

“I’m one of those people who are in it, and I can tell you that no matter the money you think you have, no matter what you have, no matter what you think you are doing, that should never be a decision you’re going to make in life.”

Franklin explained that providing for his children financially has never been the issue. Instead, he said the greatest challenge has been managing relationships with the mothers of his children.

“Some of us are lucky that God has given us some good money to be able to take care of them. But taking care of them is not the problem. It is managing the emotions of the adults who are their mothers,” he said.

He also advised young people to avoid finding themselves in similar situations.

“I want to tell young people, please and please, no matter the life you want to live, let baby mama drama not be part of it because some of us have survived it, but some of you might not be able to survive it.”

The music executive said that if he had the opportunity to make the decision again, he would choose a different path, while stressing that children remain life’s greatest blessing.

“I wish I had taken a different road on it. Children are the best thing that we can ever have in our lives. If you can do anything possible in your life, just have all of them in one place,” he said.

In the caption accompanying the video, Franklin said he was speaking openly about his past to help others make better decisions.

“Learn from my experience. Growth begins with honesty,” he wrote.

Franklin married actress Lilian Esoro on November 1, 2015, but the couple separated a year later. They share a son, Jayden.

In 2017, the talent manager revealed that he battled depression for nine months following the collapse of the marriage.

Aside from Jayden, Franklin has three other children from different relationships.

The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, Oba Semiudeen Kasali, has urged residents to report cases of sexual and domestic violence, assuring them that the palace would not shield perpetrators.

The monarch gave the assurance on Wednesday at his palace shortly after a rally against sexual and gender-based violence held across Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area in Lagos.

The awareness campaign formed part of activities marking the monarch’s 10th coronation anniversary, scheduled for July 19 to 26, 2026.

Participants, including community members, marched through major roads in the LCDA carrying placards with inscriptions such as ‘real men don’t abuse women’, ‘protect the rights of women and girls’, ‘Stop the violence, break the bias’, and ‘stand against all forms of domestic and sexual violence in Igbogbo’.

Speaking at the event, Oba Kasali described sexual and gender-based violence as a growing global concern and called for collective efforts to curb the menace.

The monarch warned that anyone found violating the law would face justice, stressing that legal provisions existed to protect all citizens.

He said, “We must all do our part to reduce the occurrence of sexual and gender-based violence in our society.

“The law is there to protect everybody, but it will deal with whoever tramples upon it.”

He urged victims and witnesses to speak up, assuring residents that reports made to the palace would be handled without fear or favour.

He also appealed to residents to obey the law and fulfil their civic responsibilities in promoting a violence-free community.

The monarch said, “We are speaking with one voice alongside NGOs and relevant Lagos State agencies against sexual and domestic violence.

“We encourage people to speak out whenever such acts occur. People should not hesitate to approach the palace. I assure you that nothing will be swept under the carpet.”

Delivering a lecture at the event, the Head of Field Operations, Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, Oluwakemi Bello, said domestic violence cuts across all family relationships and remains a major concern for the state government.

Bello said, “Domestic violence can happen between husband and wife, father and child, mother and child, or even children against their parents.

“The Lagos State Government does not want domestic violence because we have repeatedly seen reports of couples killing one another over disagreements.”

Speaking in an interview, the Executive Director of the Community Human Rights Foundation, Alhaji Lateef Akinborode, said data from Lagos State indicated that Ikorodu remained one of the areas with a high incidence of domestic violence.

He said, “This event is timely because when we reviewed Lagos State data on domestic violence, we realised that Ikorodu is one of the areas with the highest cases.

“Sensitisation like this is important to eradicate the menace and cleanse the community.”

Army Arrests 24 Foreign Nationals In Epe Hideout Raid

Troops of the 65 Battalion, under the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, have arrested 24 foreign nationals during a raid on a suspected hideout in Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State as part of efforts to curb illegal immigration and other security threats.

The Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 81 Division Nigerian Army, Lt. Col. Musa Yahaya, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.

He said the operation followed credible intelligence on the presence of undocumented foreign nationals within the battalion’s Area of Responsibility.

According to him, the troops, working in collaboration with members of the Vigilante Group, stormed a secluded fenced compound at Imokun in the Odo-Noforija/Poka axis of Epe, where the suspects were arrested.

Yahaya said, “Acting on credible intelligence, troops of the Battalion, in conjunction with members of the Vigilante Group, raided a secluded fenced compound located at Imokun in the Odo-Noforija/Poka axis of Epe. During the operation, 24 foreign nationals, comprising 15 males and nine females, were apprehended.”

He added that preliminary profiling showed the suspects were from six West and Central African countries.

“Preliminary profiling revealed that the suspects are nationals of various West and Central African countries, including Cameroon (10), Togo (6), Côte d’Ivoire (3), Republic of Benin (3), Burkina Faso (1), and Guinea-Bissau (1),” he said.

Yahaya explained that the military had commenced initial investigations to determine the immigration status of the suspects, their purpose of stay in Nigeria, and whether they were involved in any unlawful activities.

He added, “Initial investigations were conducted to ascertain the suspects’ immigration status, purpose of stay and possible involvement in any unlawful activities. Efforts are also underway to identify and question the owner of the premises to provide further insight into the circumstances surrounding their residence and activities at the location.”

The Army spokesman further disclosed that the suspects were handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service, Lagos State Command, on July 16, 2026, for further investigation, profiling, and necessary administrative action in line with extant immigration laws.

He said the General Officer Commanding, 81 Division Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Adebayo Babalola, commended the troops for their professionalism and vigilance during the operation.

According to Yahaya, the GOC charged personnel to sustain ongoing operations and intensify efforts to deny criminal elements, illegal immigrants, and other security threats safe haven within the division’s area of responsibility.

He also reaffirmed the division’s commitment to supporting relevant security agencies in maintaining peace, security, and public safety across Lagos and other areas under its jurisdiction.

How Two Men Allegedly Defrauded Victim Of N63.7 Million, Using Fake Container Shipment At Tin Can Port

Two men, Danladi Lawal and Lawan Salihu Auwal, have been arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court over the alleged fraud of N63.7 million involving a purported shipping container sale.

The defendants were docked on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretence and stealing. The offences were allegedly committed in October 2025 at Daramola Street, Tin Can Port, Lagos.

The prosecuting counsel, Mr. Morufu Ajani Animashaun, a legal officer with the Force Criminal Investigation Department (ForceCID) Annex, Alagbon, Ikoyi, told the court that the defendants conspired to defraud one Hussein Yunisa Dauda under the guise of selling 20-foot and 40-foot loaded shipping containers.

According to the prosecutor, the complainant transferred N63.7 million to the defendants in the belief that he was purchasing the containers.

Animashaun, however, told the court that the containers did not exist, alleging that the transaction was a fraudulent scheme designed to deceive the complainant.

He said the alleged offences contravene Sections 411, 314(1)(a) and 280(1)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, and are punishable under Section 287 of the same law.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Following their plea, the prosecutor urged the court to remand them pending the determination of the case.

Defence counsel, A. O. Oyeleke, informed the court that a bail application had already been filed and served on the prosecution. He urged the court to admit his clients to bail on liberal terms, noting that the alleged offences are bailable.

In his ruling, Chief Magistrate A. A. Adesanya granted each defendant bail in the sum of N10 million with two sureties in like sum.
The court directed that each surety must provide evidence of three years’ tax payment, proof of means of livelihood and utility bills, among other conditions.

The case was adjourned until July 24, 2026, for mention.

According to the charge, the defendants allegedly conspired to obtain N63.7 million from the complainant by falsely representing that they had 20-foot and 40-foot loaded shipping containers for sale, a representation the prosecution said they knew to be false.

  The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, waded through floodwaters in Awoyaya, Ibeju-Lekki Local Council, as he led a high-powered government delegation on an inspection tour of flood-prone communities affected by recent heavy rainfall across the Lekki corridor, pledging that government would take action to prevent a future incident.

  The governor, accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, commissioners and other cabinet members, visited Awoyaya, Ogombo, Sangotedo and the Chevron axis of Lekki and Ajah to assess the impact of flooding and evaluate the effectiveness of drainage channels and waterways in the area.

Standing knee-deep in floodwater at Awoyaya while addressing journalists, Sanwo-Olu said the tour was aimed at obtaining first-hand information on the flooding situation and identifying immediate and long-term solutions.

  “We did not want to stay in the office and receive reports. We needed to come out and see the reality on the ground so that we can make informed decisions and implement the necessary corrective measures,” the governor said.

  He explained that the inspection revealed that many of the drainage channels and tributaries in the area remained functional, but the unprecedented volume of rainfall recorded over the past few weeks had overwhelmed parts of the system, resulting in flooding in some communities.

 According to him, several natural waterways and tributaries around the Lekki corridor continue to discharge into the Lagos Lagoon and eventually the Atlantic Ocean, but the intensity of the rainfall had significantly increased water levels.

  “What we have seen today is a combination of natural occurrences and human factors. The volume of rain that has fallen within the last three to four weeks has been exceptionally high. Nature will always take its course,” he said.

  The governor noted that Lagos is naturally surrounded by lagoons, wetlands and tributaries that have existed for decades, adding that urbanisation and encroachment on some of these waterways had contributed to drainage challenges in certain locations.

 He said government would continue dredging, clearing and expanding drainage infrastructure to ensure free flow of water, particularly in rapidly developing areas of the state.

 Sanwo-Olu disclosed that engineers accompanying the inspection team had already identified locations requiring additional intervention, including widening drainage channels, raising embankments and improving water discharge systems.

  He also explained that the state occasionally experiences “backflow” when water levels in the lagoon rise significantly during periods of intense rainfall, slowing the movement of water from drainage channels into larger water bodies.

 The governor likened the situation to a household drainage system, noting that blocked channels and excessive water volume could temporarily overwhelm existing infrastructure.

  He urged residents to desist from dumping refuse into drainage channels, warning that indiscriminate waste disposal remained a major contributor to urban flooding.

 “We all have a responsibility. Government will continue to provide infrastructure and maintain drainage systems, but residents must also play their part by keeping drains free of waste and protecting the environment,” he said.

 Sanwo-Olu sympathised with residents whose homes and properties had been affected by flooding, assuring them that the government was assessing the extent of the damage and would provide relief where necessary.

 He disclosed that some relief centres had already been activated for affected residents and promised continued support for vulnerable communities.

 The governor, however, warned that the rainy season was still ongoing and advised residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas to relocate temporarily to safer locations whenever necessary.

 “The rains are not over yet. We urge residents to pay attention to weather advisories from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency and information from relevant government agencies. People must take precautions and move to safer areas when required,” he said.

 Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property through continuous monitoring, infrastructure upgrades and emergency response measures, stressing that flood management requires collective responsibility between government and residents.

I Have More Knowledge Than Most University Graduates - MC Oluomo

The President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has said his life experience and practical knowledge have given him more understanding than many university graduates despite not having a formal education.

MC Oluomo made the remarks on Sunday during the 50th birthday celebration of Islamic singer Hafsat Adegoke and the unveiling of her new album in Alausa, Lagos.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Fuji musician Saheed Osupa.

Reflecting on his early years, the transport union leader recounted how he started working as a bus conductor as a teenager, saying he earned enough to support his mother while still enjoying simple pleasures like going to the cinema.

According to him, his rise to the leadership of the transport union was the result of years of hard work and dedication.

“I’ve been spending money since I was 13 years old. I worked as a conductor from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. I would go to Danjuma Cinema to watch Indian movies with my own money, and I still took money home for my mother to buy food,” he said.

MC Oluomo said he did not become NURTW president by chance but worked his way through the ranks.

“I didn’t enter the NURTW as a bastard. I learnt the work, mastered it and got to where I am today. I didn’t go to school, but the knowledge and understanding I have in my head are greater than those held by people with degrees,” he said.

The NURTW president also pointed to the achievements of his children as evidence that although he lacked formal education, he placed a high value on educating his family.

He disclosed that his children have pursued professional careers abroad.

“I always tell people that if I am uneducated, glory be to God. Today, my children are a doctor, a lawyer and an engineer, and they are in America. May God not allow our children to die young,” he said.

MC Oluomo also reminisced about his relationship with Saheed Osupa, revealing that they had known each other since childhood.

He recalled eating meals in the home of Osupa’s late mother while growing up and said the Fuji singer was familiar with his humble beginnings.

Speaking further, he criticised fathers who neglect the welfare of their wives and children, describing such behaviour as unacceptable.

According to him, many Nigerian women have become the primary providers for their families despite being married.

“I have always said that any man who does not take care of his children is an enemy of God,” he said.

He lamented that many women now shoulder responsibilities such as paying school fees, rent, clothing and feeding their children because some husbands have abandoned their duties.

MC Oluomo also accused some men of prioritising children outside their marriages over their own families, warning that such actions would have consequences later in life.

Lagos Plants 13,401 Trees In Six Months

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said the state planted 13,401 trees across its five administrative divisions in the first six months of 2026, representing 67 per cent of its annual target of 20,000 trees.

The governor said the remaining trees would be planted during the current rainy season, expressing confidence that Lagos would surpass its annual target by October.

According to a statement issued by the Head of Public Affairs, LASPARK, Abiodun Adebayo, the governor said the state’s tree-planting target was part of efforts to expand its green infrastructure to address the effects of climate change.

He said, “Lagos had already planted 13,401 trees across its five administrative divisions as of June 30, representing 67 per cent of the state’s annual target of 20,000 trees. The remaining trees and more would be planted during the current rainy season.

“Tree planting is a vital investment in the future of Lagos. Expanding the state’s green infrastructure remains critical to combating climate change, improving air quality, reducing urban heat, preserving biodiversity and enhancing the overall well-being of residents,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu urged the chairmen of the 57 local government areas and local council development areas to serve as “Tree Custodians” by working closely with LASPARK to protect and monitor trees within their communities.

He also reminded residents that anyone who unlawfully fells a tree is required by law to replace it with five others.

As part of the event, the governor unveiled the 20 Lagos Tree Champions in recognition of individuals and organisations that have contributed significantly to the state’s greening initiative.

He called on private organisations, development partners, educational institutions, community groups and residents to support the government’s tree-planting campaign through strategic partnerships and sustained environmental stewardship.

“The government alone cannot achieve the vision of a greener and more resilient Lagos. Stronger public-private collaboration will significantly accelerate the state’s greening agenda while creating healthier and more sustainable communities for present and future generations,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu also commended LASPARK for promoting environmental awareness and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to environmental sustainability under the THEMES+ Agenda.

The wife of the deputy governor, Mrs Oluremi Hamzat, described this year’s theme, “Trees for Lagos: Our City, Our Responsibility,” as a reminder that protecting the environment requires collective action.

“The future of our environment depends on the choices we make today and the actions we take as individuals and corporate entities,” she said.

Earlier, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, described tree planting as one of the most practical and cost-effective responses to climate change.

He said the annual exercise underscored the state’s commitment to environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation and climate resilience.

“Beyond beautifying the environment, trees absorb carbon dioxide, release oxygen, enrich soil fertility, reduce erosion, conserve water resources and create habitats for wildlife while supporting agriculture, tourism and other green economic opportunities,” Wahab said.

He added that every tree planted under the state’s afforestation programme had been geo-tagged and was being actively monitored to ensure its survival.

The commissioner appealed to residents, schools, businesses, community associations, development partners and civil society organisations to protect existing trees and plant more.

The General Manager of LASPARK, Mrs Adetoun Popoola, said the agency was deploying geotagging technology and community-based monitoring systems to improve tree survival rates.

She added that LASPARK would continue distributing free tree seedlings to residents, corporate organisations, Community Development Associations, non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders to encourage wider participation in the greening campaign.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Agege Local Government, Mr Vinod Obasa, pledged his council’s support for the state’s afforestation drive and promised to encourage more tree planting across the local government area.

Recall that Lagos State, last month, unveiled a new environmental initiative aimed at combating climate change and rising urban temperatures, committing to planting 500 trees across the state while joining a global campaign to address extreme heat in cities.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Olalekan Rotimi-Akodu, made the announcement on the occasion of the 2026 World Environment Day, where officials warned that rapid urbanisation and climate change were increasing heat-related risks for residents.

Tension As Lagos NURTW's Organizing Secretary, Toba Ajiboye, Is Shot Dead Along Ikorodu Road, Police Launches Manhunt For Killers

There is palpable tension and fear of an imminent outbreak of violence and clash among members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW)in Lagos, as its Organising Secretary, Toba Ajiboye, popularly known as Ijaya, has reportedly died after he was shot by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in Lagos.

Ajiboye was said to have come under attack on Sunday night while returning home from his childhood neighbourhood in Fadeyi.

According to reports, the assailants intercepted his vehicle around the Ikorodu Road axis and opened fire, leaving the car riddled with bullet holes.

Photos and videos circulating on social media after the incident showed his white vehicle with multiple bullet holes on the windscreen and other parts

of the body.

Initial reports indicated that Ajiboye and other occupants of the vehicle survived the attack after sustaining gunshot wounds. However, subsequent reports

claimed that the union official later died from his injuries.

According to information reaching Lagos Today Extra!, the NURTW scribe was pronounced dead by medical experts at the St. Nichola Hospital in Lagos Island Local Government where he was rushed to after the attack.

Confusion however, broke out on Tuesday, around St. Nichola Hospital between the Police and ardent supporters of the victim, after transporters prevented security operatives from accessing the medical facility to recover Ajiboye’s body after he was pronounced dead.

Reacting to the incident, Lagos NURTW Chairman, Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Sego, expressed grief over Ajiboye’s death, describing him

as a loyal ally and trusted friend.

In a tribute posted on his Facebook page on Tuesday, Sego said he was devastated by the loss, noting that Ajiboye’s commitment and dedication to the union

and their political structure would be greatly missed.

“The news of the sudden passing of Comrade Toba Ajiboye has left me deeply saddened and heartbroken. It is difficult to come to terms with the loss of

such a loyal, dependable, and committed ally,” he wrote.

Sego described the late union leader as “more than an ally,” saying he remained a pillar of TeamSego and SegoNation.

“Comrade Toba Ajiboye, the Organising Secretary of the NURTW Lagos State Council, was more than an ally; he was a trusted friend, a man of steadfast loyalty

and unwavering commitment, and a true pillar of TeamSego and SegoNation. His friendship, unwavering support, and selfless dedication to the union over

the years will forever remain etched in my heart,” he said.

The NURTW chieftain also extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, friends and members of the NURTW.

“My heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends, and the entire NURTW family. May Almighty God forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest, and

give us all the strength and fortitude to bear this painful and irreparable loss,” he added.

Paying his final respects, Sego said, “Farewell, my dear friend. Your loyalty, friendship, and unwavering support will forever remain in my heart. You

will be deeply missed, and I will never forget the bond we shared.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident.

She said, “The incident happened on Sunday, and one person died. He is a member of the transport union in Lagos. Investigation has commenced, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the killers.”

Meanwhile, a source familiar with the incident, who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons, said Ajiboye had visited the community to meet his childhood friends as he usually did.

“He had visited the area on Sunday as he regularly did because that was where he grew up. He was leaving that evening when some gunmen shot at his vehicle.

“He was rushed to the hospital, and we believed he was responding to treatment until we were informed this morning that he didn’t make it,” the source said.

A member of the union, who identified himself simply as Taofeek, said three other occupants of the vehicle were also hit by bullets during the attack.

“There were about three other people in the vehicle. They also sustained gunshot wounds. Their condition is very serious as we speak. The doctors are battling to save them. We pray that they survive,” he said.

The killing has sparked anxiety among residents, who appealed for increased security to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

However, reacting to the development, Adebisi said, “There is no panic in the area. The policemen are on the ground, and more personnel have been added to the team of policemen in the area.”

 According to Adebisi, “Investigation is ongoing to get the perpetrators, the Command has also deployed to strategic locations to ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order”.

Rapper Olanrewaju Ogunmefun David, popularly known as Vector Tha Viper, has said that his childhood experiences with his sisters shaped his perspective on women.

According to him, the treatment he received from his sisters during childhood made it impossible for him to view women as inferior.

Vector noted that the experience also shaped his rejection of stereotypes that portray women as weak, adding that he had gone through difficult moments at the hands of his siblings.

“I have never in my life looked at a woman as inferior. My sisters were bullies when we were growing up; they gave me PTSD.”

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed the arrest on his official X account on Monday, saying the suspect, identified as Mrs McCarthy, was apprehended after enforcement officers investigated a report from residents.

According to Wahab, the woman, who resides at No. 56, Adaranijo Street, Pedro, Shomolu, allegedly directed her child to dispose of waste into a drainage channel, contrary to the state’s environmental laws.

“Earlier today, we received a report that a woman identified as Mrs McCarthy, of No 56 Adaranijo Street, Pedro, Shomolu, allegedly encouraged her child to dispose of refuse into a covered drainage channel.

“Following the report, our enforcement officers promptly carried out an investigation, which led to her arrest for violating the State’s environmental laws,” the commissioner said.

Wahab said the incident underscored the need for parents and guardians to teach children responsible environmental practices instead of encouraging actions that could obstruct drainage systems and worsen flooding.

“We expect every resident to act responsibly and to educate their children on the importance of protecting public infrastructure, particularly drainage systems.

“Encouraging acts that contribute to blocked drains and environmental degradation is unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” he said.

Wahab added that maintaining a clean environment required collective action from residents.

“A clean, safe, and flood-resilient environment is a shared responsibility. We urge all residents to dispose of waste properly and support the collective effort to keep Lagos clean,” Wahab stated.

The commissioner also disclosed that the state had stepped up enforcement activities along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway as part of efforts to restore environmental order.

According to him, enforcement teams have, over the past three weeks, intensified the removal of shanties, illegal structures and other environmental nuisances along the corridor.

“Over the past three weeks, our enforcement team has intensified the clearance of shanties, illegal structures, and other environmental nuisances along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

“This exercise will be followed by sustained surveillance and continuous monitoring to ensure that environmental order is restored and maintained along the corridor,” he said.

Wahab warned residents against converting public spaces into illegal markets or using them for unauthorised private activities, stressing that offenders would be prosecuted.

“We urge members of the public to respect and preserve our environment by refraining from converting public spaces into illegal markets or for any unauthorised private use.

“Anyone found encroaching on public spaces or using them for unlawful purposes will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the extant laws of Lagos State,” he said.
