POETRY: Fishing On Land By Dumbiri Frank Eboh

Fishing On Land

We will fish out his killers

Swore the police thief

Sorry the police chief

We will fish out his killers

Whether on land or sea.

They are still fishing

Fishing on land

While beasts and pythons regal

In blissful water turfs.

Once in search of a goat

A scapegoat

They caught an unfortunate monkey

In the jungles of Ajegunle

While Maradonas still dribble in the brooks of blood.

“I agree! I agree!”

Cried the monkey

A rain of batons on his teargassed face

“I agree I am a goat!”
