My Leaving Christianity For Islam Has Left Me More Confused - Bunner Boy

Grammy Award-winning superstar, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, says his leaving Christianity for Islam has left him more confused than ever. He recently spoke about his evolving spiritual journey, stating he was raised Christian but later explored and converted to Islam, though he still feels confused by organized religion. He said his spiritual journey has led him into finding more personal connection and peace in a higher power and universal protection rather than strict religious dogma, emphasizing that his search for truth is ongoing. He said religion is potentially confusing and controlling but feels a genuine, personal connection to something spiritual, leading him to study different faiths.
In an interview with American streamer, PlaqueBoyMax, the artiste said his quest for truth has ultimately left him feeling more confused.
He said his transition from Christianity to Islam stemmed from a deep desire to understand the meaning of existence and the nature of creation.
“I grew up as a Christian, but then I converted to Islam and all types. It’s like I have studied it all. I am still out here trying to find what is really going on.
“Religion is a controlled mechanism. In all my research, there is always one scientific fact that goes against every book. Everything comes from the workshop of the sun.
“The more I researched, the more confused I got. All I know is that the truth is there is something up there protecting me. That I am in tune with. That’s why when I pray, I feel like I’m being heard.
“I am very spiritual. I believe we are creations. If we are creations, there must be a creator. Everyone is coming up with versions that are confusing me. That is what your parents believe in. That is what you are born into,” he stated.
Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, was born on July 2, 1991, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He grew up in a middle-class family with a rich musical heritage.
